Question Broken Ignition Lock Cylinder (w/Immobilizer) @ 00'AvalonXLS - How to repair cheaply?

Hello Toyota geniuses! I hope that perhaps someone can shed some light on my car problems!

Car Model: 2000 Avalon XLS with Immobilizer
Symptom: Key turns 'loosely' in the ignition
Diagnosis: Broken Ignition Lock Cylinder

Question: What is the cheapest option to repair this? What would the process be?

Additional Information/Considerations:

There are replacement parts online that range in price from $45 - $225, some stating specifically that they do not have immobilizer, some that state that they do have immobilizer, and some that don't mention immobilizer at all.

I have heard that a local locksmith may be able to help with this issue in some fashion?

Looking for lowest cost option to get car up and running.

I live in southern california in this area: Google Maps Link if anyone has any local suggestions

If anyone other information would be useful -- let me know and I will try my best to provide it.

in advance!

The only recall information I can find is this: http://www.toyota.com/recall/avalon.html

Is this the recall you are talking about? Was the ignition lock cylinder part of this recall?

That's the one. I don't think the cylinder was part of the recall, but the symptoms were like yours. I took it in and the symptoms were gone after the repair.

Depends on the shop workload and the skill of the technician. Mine was about 45 minutes.
