Originally posted by Camry_rider This is bullshit, but ya know......I wouldn't put it past Toyota....they killed the Supra, and made the Celica FWD.
Page two owned.
But the Supra had shitty sales. And people weren't buying the Celica for performance. So why bother?
*Please, lets not turn this thread into an O/T fight about reasons for what Toyota has done in the past (just killing it before it happens).

1992 Toyota Camry 5 Speed - 5S-FE....totally stock
I for one has not heard anything about this Stateside nor Japan.
Second, I do not know how the Camry is selling in the land of the Roos, but I highly doubt that Toyota will axing the Camry in market.
Third, Toyota of Japan fought for 4 hard years to bring the Camry to China, due to alot of political BS and hogwash.
Fourth, the Camry is ranking as one of the top 5 selling cars in world, and is Toyota's mainstay in almost all of it's markets, except where smaller cars like the Vitz and WiLLs are the major market, and even then the Camry no matter which grade, Sportivo, SE you name it sells very well in a small proporation car market.
Fifth, MORE THAN HALF, thats right more than half of all the Toyota cars for the overseas market, meaning Asia and Austraila are designed and developed right here in the US in Cal-forn-ia! I did an article on here a while back about this, including the new Camry, the 7th Gen Celica.
Now for the Avalon, that is gonna be phase out becasue Toyota is launching the Crown worldwide, and re-introducing it to the US market. For those who said we never had a Crown here in the US, we did. Tt was one of the very first car that Toyoda has sold in the US the one Landcrusier back when Toyota then known as Toyoda and Toyopet in the late 1950's.
Toyota then change its name in the US to Toyota so that it does not sound too Japanese, and then Globablly adopted the name Toyota over Toyoda and Toyopet.
So in the long run... the Avie news is old news reported by me a while back, and for the Camry unless Toyota have something that is better than the Camry and is going to be priced along the lines as the Camry it is here to stay for some time.

o/t:
I thought they changed it because writing "Toyota" had a certain number of strokes, and it was good luck...
compared to "Toyoda", which wasnt the required number of strokes (i forget the number)...
as for the crown, what version are we getting..?
