I'd suggest you replace the "high pressure hose" of the p/s system. Its a 34 dollar part. If your not a diy dude, most local shops should charge you at the most (high end) $100 installed w/ labor + parts.

Thanks Jhbhatia for your reply.
But the hoses (both high pressureare and low pressure) are very clean, and the two boots of the steering rack isn't swollen.
what happens when you turn on your engine and have someone move the steering from right to left while you visualize the engine bay! if you have already take it to a shop, then i'm guessign he's already started by doing this first....
had the same problem. cracked rack. only leaked when vehicle was driving and making turns... thank god for warruntee cost $469 installed
Thanks PimpinInAvalon,
with a cracked rack, the both boots on the rack were not swollen?
as long as there is plenty of PS fluid in the reservoir, the steering still feels very smooth for me. was that the same for you at that time?
the steering felt fine untill it got low..just a little moaning here and there. i dunno what it looked like, but i was told that where the fittings for the lines went into the rack, it cracked around that area

I had the same problem on my 94 V6 Camry and it was the rack aswell. Found a used rack at the local scrap yard and got it installed and now its perfect.
The most common place for fluid loss is the rack seals, so you might want to check and see if the bellows boots on the end of the rack are full of fluid. The rack and pinion is leaking. Poke a hole in the rack boot (not the cv boot!!!) and you’ll see the fluid pour out.

Try a product called Lucas PS treatment. I hear it can stop those leaks. (this from a reputable mechanic, I've never used it.) You might look up under the body of your car to see if it's streaked by the leak. The fluid accumulates and will eventually leak.

I started this thread early this year.
Now new report:
The leak stopped itself when it is hot (I live in Texas), so I didn't top off the PS for almost harf a year and the PS fluid level is very stable.
There are similar posts on other forums. It seems like a well-know problem for this car: link. Now i can confirm this symptom is temperature dependent.
Now it gets colder, i notice the PS begins leaking again. Actually, the leak is developping, since I can see a puddle of PS fluid under the driver side of my car after overnight parking (the fluid level decrease at the same time).
It is about the time to replace the rack and pinion.
