Should Toyota have made the Avalon a RWD instead of FWD?
Well, with the new Avalon bigger and better, should you think Toyota should of made it RWD? Because i think the cars too big to be FWD, same goes with other luxury FWD cars.

its also cheaper, and its luxury so you dont need rwd dynamics...and restricted interior space from a rwd...did i say its cheaper?

I think Toyota wanted to go after the american luxury car market with the Avalon, so I think it makes sense that its FWD like the rest of them. There are a lot of people who argue that FWD is more for luxury vehicles because of it being simpler to drive under most driving conditions.
a FR is easier to handle in an emergency compared to a FF. in a FF you gotta back off, in a FR as long as the nose is pointing the right way youll be ok.

for an extra 5-10k, definitely not. maybe on a new avalon, but probably not. cuz at that point, u're looking at about 35-40k. that's a lot of money for a "toyota"
can easily get a lexus or even a cheap-end benz at that price.
Having the Avalon with FWD is fine, mainly because the engine isn't a V8 with an excessive amount of torque on hand. I test drove it today, and I didn't feel much torque steer. 260lb-ft @ 4700 rpm isn't mind blowing for FWD. I think once you get to about 300-350lb-ft with 80% available below 3500rpm, that's when the switch to RWD should be more feasible. A FWD car would simply be a nuisance w/ that much torque on hand.
