Our 2000 Avalon will jump out of overdrive for an instant after driving on the highway for about 30 minutes. Usually when this occurs, the check engine light flashes, but posts no codes . The dealer does not seem to know what to do. The transmission was replaced a few months ago due to burnt fluid and a code related to a valve. The problem existed on the original transmission , but also occurrs on the replacement. We even discovered if we drive with the OD off, when this happens, it goes into OD.
Any ideas? It seems like heat related, sinced you must drive abot 30 minutes for it to happen, then it recurrs intermittently, sometimes 18 times in the next 30 miles
