How To Disable Auto Door Locks?

How do I disable the automatic door lock function on my 2000 Avalon? The dealer did it for me several years ago, but my battery died recently and that caused them to re-activate.

Thanks

Put key in ignition, turn to on position. Open driver's door and remove key (keep door open). Put key in and out 4 times (in/ out only without any turning of key) with the key out at the end. Hit drivers side unlock button 5 times. Wait at least ten seconds and shut the driver's door. Away you go.

By the way. This also worked for my '05 Tundra DC

Thanx for posting this. I HATE those doggone lock-when-you-drive things. I can't count how many times I'll go to open a rear/passenger door to retreive something only to find out the vehicle has locked itself.

Perhaps this "feature" is a comfort to a small minority of soccer moms out there worried about car jackings, but I'm willing to bet the rest of the world hates them. I do know that everyone I talk to sides with me.

Toyota really should put this in the user manual.
