i don't know why you would say you "know" you will get it done right.
I have not had experience w/ toyota dealers, but other dealers i have been to and worked for generally pay less than a good garage and have a business philosophy of "replace everything and see if it works". The jeep dealers i have dealt with have either been completely incompetent or criminally fraudulent.
I know a lot of people picture the greasy guy in his backyard garage when you say independent garage, but there are many very good indys out there.
look for large multi bay shops that are clean and busy. you can get references from the good ones. another good sign, esp for tranny shops, is if you see police cars in the shop. also, references from local contractors are good, like delivery companies, large const contractors with lots of vehicles.
