The headlights on my new Touring are aimed so low they're worse than the sealed beams in my old Ford. The lights in my Lexus (IS300) were the same way when I bought it. I raised them four years ago, and then had my wife drive behind me in the Lexus while I drove in front in a Mazda Miata, which is pretty low. Then we drove toward each other. I made the lights as high as I could without causing any glare to the Miata.

I don't get flashed by oncoming drivers, and I can see a whole heck of a lot better than I could before. I'm raising the lights on the Avalon this weekend. I think Toyota's so afraid of being blamed for causing glare they're aiming the lights super low. Too low for safety.

heres small article idid in other forums hope it helps

This mod is for the new Avalon owners! Because the new Avalon HID's lights adjusted way too low!
Hi black phantom this is for u as u requested and for few avvy owners as they asked me! And I hope it helps
It's very easy to do all you need is a 10mm O type spanner for easy access to rotate the bolt
Now as the pictures below shows the 2 bolts that must be adjusted as clockwise.
The best time to do this mod is in the night and u shall park your car ahead of white wall and 15 leg feet away :roflmao:
WARNNING: DONT ADJUST IT TOOO HIGH U'LL BLIND THE INCOMING DRIVIERS AND TEST IT WITH ANOTHER CAR AND READJUST IF IT'S TOO HIGH!
Mine works like a champ and when I tested mine they looked like if they're adjusted too high but its not! When u drives the test car you'll know what I mean! Just adjust it to your desired position

cheers and happy chillin :p

Did you try the method in the owners manual in section 7.3? It calls for a Phillips screwdriver to be used. When I tried that, it required more force than I wanted to apply (using caution) to the cogs.
