I was able to drive mine while they figured out the problem and while we waited for teh regional guy to show up. It just made a mess of the garage floor.

2005 Oil Leak 30kMi

My XL has been at the dealership since 11/13. Just confirmed today that it is the high pressure lines and parts are back ordered. It's from this forum that I discovered exactly what it was. The dealer mentioned that other cars are in there for the same reason. Thankfully, it's still under warranty and they gave me a rental. I hope the parts will correct the leak permanently. They said it might be another week until the parts come in. If this is a national back order, who knows?

Also, anyone with a 2005 XL experience acceleration lag, stutter or hesitation when in lower gears/speed? I discovered this the day I got the car, and mentioned it many times and many times the dealer said it was normal. Is this a cover up?

yes it is. the sienna had the same problem. they need to come out with a reflash that will fix the problem like they did with the sienna, they both have the same transmission. dave p

DAve,
Are you referring to the shifting problem on the Avalon XL when you speak about the fix for the Sienna? ALso what is a reflash?

the problem is in the software for the transmission. a reflash is an upgrade revised program
that gets downloaded directly from toyota to the dealer, then he loads it in your car.

I noticed an oil leak under my 2005 avalon a few days ago and took it to the dealer. they said it was a power steering fluid leak. They ordered the part and it was supposed to fix the leak. They called me this afternoon and said there is a motor oil leak as well. The car has around 17K miles. They said the part to fix the motor oil leak was on national back order, but it would be fine to drive the car for a month until the part comes in. Come on Toyota, get your act together.
