New Avalon Smells?????

Hello Avalon people I have a question. My mother just bought a new Avalon yesterday. Nice car but we noticed a burning smell today, like a rubber burning smell. I was checking out the car and didn't notice anything. However this guy saw what I was doing and asked if something was wrong. He said that his new mustang had the same smell. I believe he said his delear told him it was something they sprayed on the exhaust piping and would go away after awhile. Being sunday the delear is closed so I can't call today. So have any of you guys with the new Avalon had this problem?

Thanks

I didn't notice it on the Avalon but while we were test driving the Lexus 330 the sales guy asked us to keep the inside recirculate button on (closes off outside air) because of the burning smell that was typical of the Lexus models. I should have asked him how long it lasted, but I didn't. So you could use the Lexus trick and keep the inside circulate button pushed for awhile.

Burn smell

My new '06 Avalon Limited (450 miles) does produce a burn smell which I notice when I walk past the front of the car in the garage. Nothing severe and the smell recedes quickly. If it continues I'll take it in, but my sense is that it's normal.

My '06 had the "burning" smell for the first week or so. I'm now at the end of week two, and it seems to have burned off.
