Smart Key Battery

I have only had my Avalon Limited for three months and I noticed that my Smart Key battery already seems to be weakening. Has anyone else already replaced their Smart Key battery? I intend to replace mine this week.

4 months--nothing noticed. The light is still red. I rarely use it as a remote, just as a Smart Key. Transmit range can be affected by a number of environmental factors besides battery.

Smart Key

I seldom use mine as a remote either, I just noticed a sharp drop in the operating range of the Smart Key. I have been to Radio Shack, but they don't carry a replacement battery for the fob.

Had to replace mine today, guess it will be a yearly deal just to be safe.

Mine uses type CR1632 Lithium 3V coin cell. Originals have lasted 2 years so far, perhaps because we don't use the remote buttons to lock/unlock the doors.

You may want to be careful where you hang your keys. I have heard complaints from people with smart keys for other makes of cars that had their batteries die prematurely because their key was always hanging within operating range of their vehicle.
