If this were the first oil change for the engine, 3K would be best. The engine being new has containments from when it was assembled, plus the break in process.

I did the first change on my 06 Avy at 1100 miles, after the break-in. My next planned change is at 5k, and from that point forth every 6 months or 5k miles whichever comes first.

The owner's manual says 5000 between oil changes.

I would use Mobil 1.

Thats what I normally run in my Lexus and my Toyota. I find it to be one of the highest quality oils out there (the synthetic and the dino are both high quality) for Toyota vehicles. Out of BP, Castrol and Mobil1, Mobil1 is the best BY FAR.

When I feel like indulging, I pick up Royal Purple Synthetic Oil or Amsoil Synthetic Oil. In my opinion, those are the two best synthetic oils out there of them all.

i'll agree with the others and say mobil 1 also. the only other engine i've torn down that was as clean as a mobil 1 engine was with kendall motor oil....but it's harder to find.

you get kendall at costco?... here in texas i've always used 10w-30, and that's what at least 2 of the dealers use in this area. they say that if it never gets below freezing...then use 10w-30
