How do I get the car on jack stands?

OK, I know this may be a stupid question, but how do I get the car up on jack stands? I would like to put the stands under the indents inside of each wheel, but where else can I jack from? On my RWD car I can grab a support under the engine (it has a pad and is meant for jacking) and the rear diff.

I'm planning on doing a 120k mile inspection and fluid changes myself.

Thanks,

I would have posted a pic, but the snap on shop key I have access to (temporarily) does not have a pic. I suspect you will be able to figure it out.
