If you'd like to be able to do this yourself, or use an independent technician (other than the Toyota dealer) Well as of this week, you can now get a temporary subscription to the Techstream software and use a Mongoose MFC to the same thing without the $7000 Techstream tool.

Does anyone know if the 2009 model year is affected by this? I love my new Avalon, but there is a lot of hesitation between the time that I step on the gas pedal, and the time that the car decides to downshift and accelerate.

The 08 and on have a 6 speed transmission vs the 05-07 5 speed. I did find a tsb on the TIS site that pertains to the 6 speed.
