thanks. I printed the TSB for my '05 Limited and will take it to the dealer. This takes care of problem #1.
Next, what about the XM Radio only showing 10 characters for artist and song title ?? XM broadcasts 32 characters each yet I only get 10?? Any fix?
Any help with updating DVD for Nav?? Any aftermarket or internet sales for new disk?

took mine in last Friday, even though I wasn't really having any shifting problems. The car seems to shift about the same as before and mileage is same as before on a long trip (drove about 1100 miles this weekend). Still only getting 27-28 on highway, which is 7 mpg lower than what some have reported on these forums... that's a pretty big disparity. I checked manually and also compared to the car's computation (which seemed to be withing 1-2 mpg each time).
Also, when I had my car in for the Tranny, the day before the spring rod in my trunk violently let loose. The dealer said there's a TSB for that also but it involved new trunk hinges that would need painted in the body shop....I'm waiting for their call telling me the parts are ready.
How fast are you driving....are you using cruise control......hilly terrain.......hot humid weather?? Our car using cruise is getting an ez 34-35 going 63mph on rural Wis roads and getting an Easy 32-33 at 70-72 unless bucking a headwind. Also be sure tires are at max pressure in the book....I think 32psi.
This makes up for my 07 honda pilot which is supposed to get 22 mpg....I can't get it to hit 21 mpg with a taillwind!! My last Pilot (04) did 23 mpg but they geared the new ones down alot......the newer one is going 7mph slower at the same rpm as the old one.
going to the dealer tomorrow....man I love this forumn....I flipping told the dealer about 4 times that it shifts funny......
One of the service techs actually told me the ECM is updated by the way you drive, and the shifting/trans adjusts based on that. He said we have only had to reflash one car so far.....lets see what he says tomorrow....

Thanks !!
That's true the ECM does TRY to adapt to your driving style, but reflashing only resets that tool. The hesitation still remains. The only fix to the hesitation in the tranny is the TSB, which updates the entire SOFTWARE that runs the ECM.
i Finally found the time to do my TSB!!! BIG BIG difference!!! i dont feel that sudden surge when i touch the gas.
while i was at it, they also changed my window binding since it was coming off, and i Finally got my headlight replaced. cost me $1,300 just to change the driver's headlight!crazy!!! it broke when i was adjusting the headlight level, which wasnt covered under warranty and they had to replace to whole unit. @_@
Holly Crap.......that's 5% of the total price of the car to change a headlamp unit........sounds awful to me. If I was tinkering and broke something that expensive my wife would kill me!!! (And I've been know to break some things while tinkering!!~!))
^^ that's what i was thinking! the headlamp shouldnt cost that much.. i could see charging me 300-500 but not $1300!!! they said the HID was expensive @_@ it's bs. now i have to bring home lunch to work for a good month.
OK! I just found this forum and registered. Then found this thread. I have signed up at Tundra Solutions but can't find the .pdf for the bulletin. Since my Avalon is a 2006, I don't want to take the bulletin covering the 2005 model to the dealer. The txt version in the first post is most definitely hard to follow, especially for me. HELP!!

If you can't see the file then you will need to sign in first. If that still doesn't work send me an email through the forum and list an email address. I will email the pdf to you.

Good luck
Thanks, My ISP was holding my emails for some reason and I couldn't get the confirming email for my registration. I finally got everything in order and found the bulletin and printed it out in preparation for my next visit to the dealer.
Just had my early '07 Avalon 'reflashed'...WOW, like getting a whole new car.
Now it's the way it should be.
I'm referring to the service bulletin to recalibrate the transmission shift points.
Used to be harsh, vague, jerky, jumpy, you pick the adjective. (esp. at low creep/crawl speeds in traffic jams)
Now it's predictable, smooth when you want gentle & smooth, and it GETS UP AND GOES when you want that.
The other change I notice, a little less 'engine braking' when decelerating at some speeds. BUT, that's what Brakes are for..
Overall. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. It was Free, and should be.
