I have an 07 Avalon XL. Want to change out the factory bulbs with PIAA bulbs to get more light. The manual says not to change the bulb myself. To bring it to the dealer. Come on it's a bulb. Anyone know how it's done on the 07 and can I use the PIAA bulbs without any issues? Thanks, Joe
Do you know if the bulbs come out like on other cars or is there some special thing with the Avalon for them to say "bring it to the dealer? What about the PIAA bulbs? Any thoughts? Thanks, Joe
sicnce i have HID so i'm not sure which size bulb, but i assume it's 9006 HB4 bulbs..anyways, pop out that front black plastic and wah la, change your bulbs ..i did changed my highbeam bulbs and it's the same as working on other cars.
PIAA bulbs will works fine

No, just rotate the bulb counter clockwise and remove

Thanks, By the way. is there a boot that has to be removed like on other cars? Also, what do you think about replacing with PIAA bulbs? The high beams are the day time running lights. any issue here? Thanks,
Joe
There should be no boot. There should be no problem with the piaa bulbs in the high beams. Low Beam Bulb is 9006. High Beam is 9005.

I was changing mine and had no trouble with the Passenger side but the Drivers side bulb is in front of the fuse box and battery and I can't get my hand in there.............Is your 07 Avy like that and if it is, how did you do it?

I have not tried it yet. First had to know why the manual says not to. Seems very tight but if they can do it in the dealership I guess it can be done. I really do not want to take the battery out since I just entered all the codes to shut off the chimes. Thanks for your reply. Joe

Also, I am not sure how the PIAA lamps will do in the daytime running lights which are the high beams also.
I too attempted to change out my bulbs for some Sylvania brighter bulbs. I couldn't get to the drivers' side bulb. I believe that either the fuse box or the battery must be moved. Did you remove the cool air intake cover first? Also, how do you enter codes to shut off the chimes?
I found this thread when I searched for an answer to changing a headlight bulb in a 2007 Avalon with HID headlights. Of course I didn't get an accurate answer, so I am adding one.
Low beam..not high beam..the high beam is a standard halogen bulb.
I replaced the HID bulb with a cozy one from advance auto parts for a mere $85. Then it acted the same as the old bulb..flicker...bright, then out. somebody told me to remove the entire headlight assembly on the driver side and take the "headlight control computer" off the assembly and replace it.
To remove the headlight assembly, I discovered I needed to remove the plastic dust cover than goes across the front of the car and covers the void where the hood catch assembly is. simple enough, pry the push in connectors out and remove. next I removed the two screws at the top of the grille that secures the grille to the bumper cover 10mm socket, then slipped the bottom of the grille from the bumper cover and removed the grille. then I removed the driver side half of the bottom cover under the car that is attached to the bumper cover. Next I took the driver side inner fender plastic loose and removed the screws that hold the bumper cover to the fender,10mm socket also. I popped the bumper cover loose from the fender and voila, I could see all the bolts retaining mr headlight assembly and i removed them, took the headlight assembly out and unplugged the wires attaching it. I moved the assembly to the workbench and turned it upside down and found a plastic cover with four screws that I removed. My, my, what a nice rusty headlight control computer. i removed the screws holding the control box in and disconnected the power supply wire and fished the headlight bulb connector and wire out of the headlight assembly and was holding the headligh control computer in my hand. I pried the non-waterproof tin cover off of it and found cooked electronic components.
More fun, for only the price of a big screen LED TV ($959), I could get a new controller from toyota.
The job, R&R took about 2,5 hours, not hard , but just sounds like a lot of work. $1,000 in parts later with my labor free of course that job was done.
Gee, those HID headlights are great ain't they ? Instead of a $20 halogen bulb, I have a wonderful headlight that costs a mere $1,000 in parts to fix.

good luck with yours
You will HAVE to remove the bumper. There is no other way to get to the drivers side without destroying a part in the process. I am putting LEDs on my headlights and I can confirm that taking the bumper off is the only way.
