I get 19-20 city also. High 20's hwy w/ 20x8.5 chrome wheels. Taking a trip to Fl. this weekend though. I'll be good & see what it can do for at least 1 tank (I hope).
I drive a lot of interstate highways and regularly get in the high 20's. On one trip to eastern Washington (360 miles roundtrip) I averaged 34 and that includes up and over the Cascade mountains - twice!
I got according to the computer 31.4 mpgs on our 2009 Avalon. This was on a tankful of gas on a trip from Charelston, SC to Florence, Al. With that tankful about 300 miles on cruise at 70 mph and about 100 miles at 60 mpg.
On the other tankfuls the mileage varies from 29 mpg to 30 mpgs
Wow. Based on the above responses, I guess I got a good '08 XLS. I get 25 mpg in everyday driving (mix of city and highway), but on a road trip I get 34-36 mpg.
I'm averaging around 25mpg which is mostly back and forth to work (highway). On a long trip I once got an average of 30mpg.

Our '06 avy has been phenominal. We get 30-33 freeway at 72mph (wind makes a diff). We get up to 35 on rural wis roads at 60MPH.
With 4 people in the car and 4 sets of golf clubs (pretty loaded) we get an ez 31 mpg at about 62/63 mph.
I can't think of a more roomy, nicer riding economy car!!

Man I hope I can get 30-33, I am driving my 05 from South Florida to Nevada next week.
My 05-Tour gets about 24-25 on 25 mile trip to work consisiting of 50% CA stop and Go and 50% at 70 mph. For just freeway, it depends on how fast you want to drive. From 60K mile experience, at 90 mph we get 29-30, at 80 mph 30 to 31, at 70 mph 31 -33. Also depends on how many times you put your foot to the floor to get around a Porshe. All above is with AC on.
