Aftermarket Navigation System for 3gen Avalon

Hi all,

I am looking for an aftermarket navigation system for my friend’s 2006 Avalon. He would like to get an integerated unit rather than a mobile one. If you have seen a good installation, DIY or navi units, please share with me your findings

p.s. accept my apologies if this has been covered earlier, I used the search tool but couldn’t find what i was looking for

Thanks!

-Hamzah

I have a Pioneer AVIC-D2 Nav system installed in mine. I love it. It has 2 drives a CD (mp3) drive and a DVD drive for the maps (so you don't need to keep switching disks). I paid about 4500.00 plus 450 to have it installed.

It was 2nd or 3rd gen drive but It was less expensive than the AVIC-D3 plus the D3 model only has 1 DVD drive so you will be changing disks at lot unless you get the Ipod adapter.

Both units can be adapted for an Ipod, rear view camera, satellite radio, real time traffic, DVD movies can be played on both. With the D2 though you will need to connect an external DVD drive.

Both are Bluetooth ready. All in all I'm quite please with this unit.

Ringo 234

I just purchased a 06 Avalon and am very interested in adding a GPS to my car. I checked out the Pioneer units and they look ideal.

I would love to talk to you about this. I know this is an old post and I hope you look. If anyone else has ideas I am all ears in finding out how to do this.

Regards,

M
