Want to tini/smokle rear tail lights

Hi All,

I have a 2006 Bliz Pearl Avy, and wanted to tint out the rear tail lights.

Anyone done this alreay ? What did you use, how hard was it...

What do you guys think - will it look cool or tacky ?

I like the way the lights on the Infiniti M35 look when they come blacked out from the factory...

thanks,

PS - Dont you think the avy looks a little like the new S500 ?

I'd go take a look at eBay where there are a lot of new and used taillights for the 2005+ Avalon available. (Using a second set allows you to simply reuse your original lights, if this project goes badly.)

Then, I'd look at getting a quality spray tint made specifically for taillights.

I've seen where people actually cut apart the taillight and put tint film on the inside of the taillight. Then, glue the whole thing back together again. Sometimes it works, usually it doesn't.

Or someone could talk to Altezza about producing lights for our cars. It would seem like enough Avalons have been sold to reach some sort of critical mass, that we'd finally start to see aftermarket stuff like taillights become available.

Any automotive paint shop can tint your lenses properly for under $200. The quote I got was $130.

Lamin-x is the way to go. Easy, removable, & cheaper than the options above. I got mine the first week I had the car & it still looks great. Get the smoke though charcoal will be too dark. I paid my tint guy $20 to install it. You'll have to cut out the circle for the trunk button on a limited (easy)

I just realized that one of the changes for the 2008 Avalon is tinted rear tail lights, standard from the factory. So, if tail lights for the 2008 will also fit a 2006, there's your solution in just ordering a pair of them.

I had my Lincoln LS' taillights tinted by jonstintedtail.com . They came out perfect I had mine done medium dark which matched my Black LS really well. Heres a link to another forum with some pics of my tails lights. http://www.lincolnvscadillac.com/vbp...?do=view&g=931
