Engine sounds like a diesel

I recently purchased a 2006 Avalon Limited from a Toyota dealer with 34k miles. The day after I bought it I took it back to have them check out the rather loud ticking sound from the engine, faster you go the faster it ticks, more pronounced when the engine is cold. They spent a day with it and told me someone put the wrong oil in it and that was the problem. They changed the oil to 5/20 and claimed it was resolved, NOT. I read another post with a similar complaint and a reply that the noise was from the fuel injection system and was normal. I can't believe this diesel sound is normal. Any thoughts??

You're just going to get the same response as the other thread....

My opinion is that's it's caused by fuel injectors.

I know the sound your hearing. I wouldn't say is quite like a diesal, but there is a ticking sound. I sounds like a miscalibrated lifter on 1974 350 Olds V-8. Mine is like that. You can hear the ticking from inside the car better than outside the car, which I feel is unusual. I'm not sure if the prior owner road the car hard and never changed the oil.

I feel our engine should sound a smooth as a sewing machine.
