How to remove rear subwoofer / center speaker?

Having a sudden lack of bass in my '06 Avalon (JBL Synthesis), popped the trunk and took a look at the subwoofer. It looks like a connection problem/bad wire inside the speaker.

Element looks pretty standard to me and it seems to be bolted with 4 bolts to the read deck. I need to remove the cover from rear deck, or at least the speaker cover but could figure out how to pull it off.

I tried to pry it off with wide knife but stopped when I started to hear the cracking sound.. don't want to mess up the cover.

Does anyone know how to get access to the rear speakers in 06 avalon? A picture would be great..

It's not easy. My installer had to undo the rear seatbacks a little to get the plastic cover out in order to get access to the hardware for the Sub. There's a single big bolt back there for the seats, but it was like 2 years ago and I don't quite remember how we did it. Sorry, wish I was more help.

Thanks, I took off rear headrests and found 2 big bolts holding the rear seatbacks in place. I'll try to go that route.

OMG. I got up to the step 7 myself and figured out that I need to also to remove all seat belts.. I think I'll order that factory manual, it's just easier with pictures..

Jeez, some people can get their cars DIRTY (I bought mine used). Apparently dealer had fixed it up and shone the leather but pulling up those rear seatbacks.. oh boy somebody's been a frequent customer to McDonald's, eating off the seat. There was so much coke and food spilled between those seats that I had to put on latex gloves and get some bathroom cleaner to wipe that crap off. Same thing can be seen look ing under the dashboard, soda spills dripping everywhere. Can't show/tell to my wife, she would not step in to that car ever.
