Canada Armor-All

Someone told me that armor-all dries out the rubber on your tires. Has anyone else heard this and if so, are there other reasonably priced products to make your tires sparkle?? Also, looking for a recomendation to replace my JBL factory installed radio/cd/tape to something else that also has mp3 capabilities.

I've always preferred to scrub the tires with a brush, and apply gel by a foam applicator. These spray-ons always leave a drippy-looking residue to me.

I think a lot of the things you hear about Armor All are unfounded. I have used it for years and have no complaints. All of these type of products leave some of residue on whatever you apply it to. I think your tires will end up wearing out way before they would ever dry out due to applying any of the available products.

I'd suggest you post your question in the Detailing & Car Care forum. Plenty of experienced people there who can give you an answer.

I have looked around here before and heard this. The end result was most saying no it will not dry them out. If you drive the car before it settles though, there will get dirt in the protectors and make it appear that way. I have used it personally on my car and did not have dried out tires.

I used it for many years, every few months on interior vinyl and plastic surfaces, but stopped after it dried out the top of my dash (on a Nissan Truck, not the Avalon). I agree that tires would likely wear out before any deterioration would show.

My experience with Armor-All is that it is just to sticky. It turns everything into a dirt magnet. I've turned to Adam's Polishes and use their "VRT" (Vinyl, Rubber, Tires) dressing. It doesn't leave a wet, shiny finish behind. You're left with vinyl and rubber that looks clean and dark and it's dry so dust and dirt doesn't stick to it. In my opinion it's a better product.
