How to change the door lights

Does anyone know how to change the bulbs to the lights on the lower corner of the doors? Please dont tell me it requires taking off the whole door panel! I just cant see a way to remove the light cover. dont want to break it!

i have the same question too, i was goin to change the door bulbs to leds as well
but i couldn't seems to get the cover off. and after looking thru the 06 avalon assembly manual it seems like the only way to remove the cover is from removing the panel. so i didn't bother to change the bulbs out.

i am guessing that its do-able to unscrew the screws at the lower part of the door panel, but i don't want to have parts falling out so i didn't try. let me know if u do

update for you!!
i managed to remove the light covers with my swiss pocket knife
always go from the right side as the end of the bulbs are inserted in at the left.
so use the knife and picked on the top right corner of the plastic cover, bend it out a bit and work toward the left and you should be able to remove the light housing.
there is a 2ndary protective cover in there, so you have to remove the clip from right side gently first then pull the left side out with a bit more force.
in order to get the bulb out of its socket, use the knife and push the bulb from its end between the connectors and you should be able to get the bulb out, the put in the new LED you wish to install, remember to check if the bulb lights up before you install it all back together!

good luck!

yep, it's pretty easy, you just pry them out from the one side. I converted door lights, interior lights, and license plate lights to LEDs... can't believe how many people comment on the new look. Would love to convert the fog lights... they look so awkward all yellowish with the 'whitish blue' headlights.
