Modifications for Tall Drivers?

Does anyone have a recommendation for obtaining and/or modifiying a new (ie 2008/2009) Avalon (or Camry) to accomodate a tall driver needing headroom? My previous solution was to order w/o moonroof, but now Toyota together with other manufacturers include this as "standard" in their upscale trim packages.

Avalon Touring and Camry SE are the closests with moonroof as option (if you can find one), but still leave off some features for seemingly no good reason.

Are there custom (ie lower) seat rails or seats that can be installed?

Have you sat in an 08 Avalon? I'm 6'5" and don't have a problem. I actually have an extra 2 or 3" of head room.

I currently drive an '01 Avalon w/o moonroof and have plenty of room. Drove '08 with moonroof and no room (seems same as Camry in this regard), but w/o moonroof is perfectly fine. The problem is that for XLS/Limited the moonroof is now "standard" -- so the trick would be "adapting" XLS/Limited or "upgrading" XL/Touring to get what I want as far as trim features. Same is true for Camry XLE, one must look at "ugrading" an LE/SE.

I have driven nothing but Toyota vehicles for years and never been disappointed with performance and reliabiity -- hopefully I can find a way to continue, and even more I hope the performance and reliability of current generation will be worth the effort.

I'm 6'5" (but with short legs), I have to tilt the seat way, way back to fit in my '08 or '07. I'd love to hear about any mod too.

tall one

I am 6'4 at 250 and have plenty of head room in our '07 Touring. I dont often wear a hat but when I do, there is still room.

All helpful replies and while it sounds there is some variation amongst us tall guys related to inseam, I now suspect there may be some variation in actual vs specified headroom and perhaps accross trim packages. I drove an Avalon Touring w/moonroof which for sure did not have enough headroom, yet Toyota specifies all models (even Limited with no option to remove moonroof) at 38.9" -- same as Camry w/o moonroof that was OK. Anyway, this weekend I will go and check out all models again as well as investigate a Highlander Hybrid -- an expensive solution but they look kinda interesting.

headroom

Hmm, I rented an 08 Camry Hybrid and I certainly didnt have as much headroom as our Avalon, but you are definately correct about different body builds. I tend to have a tall torso (34" inseam") whereas my son wears 36" and is the same height.

At 6'5" I have a 33" inseam. In the 96 Avalon the moonroof was a no go for me. The 05 LTD is just fine.
