While I don't have an IPOD (I have a Zune).. The principle is the same.. The cable plugs into the "aux" port on that back of the JBL radio, and all you need to do is press the AM/SAT button to listen.. Sounds great.. Removing the radio is a sinch.. Just remove the trim, use a 10mm on the bolts and your done..

Of course I went one sep futher and also purchsed a video to NAV converter box, and installed the zune dock in the center consol.. This way I can simple "dock" the zune and control it with the remote (I extended the IR into the dash, below the radio) and have the menue on the nav screen.. I also have a reverse camera conencted

Will this affect my satellite radio? The installer wanted to sell me a device that is totally made for the ipod. it was like $200

The interface for an ipod can be doen thru the docking connector (bottom of ipod) OR the standard headphone socket. The ipod specific versions use the docking connector and can allow the control of the ipod (back-next tracks ect) as well as taking the digital audio into the JBL. better sound quality hence more expensive.. the standard headphone connector is simple analoge audio not so high quality, and will not allow any control of the ipod... hence cheaper..
cheers

and the headphone jack won't provide for charging the ipod. Get one that connects to the docking connector. It's worth the money.
