Thumbs down No fourth gen?

http://www.autoblog.com/2008/07/12/l...s-next-avalon/

I don't know the sales numbers of the newest Avalon, but it seems to be one of the most fuel-efficient cars in that class, and I think with higher gas prices its popularity will increase...

YEP, talked to my dealer no more Avalon, will be replaced with a Camry L (extended version) too bad finally found a car I really like- I will not drive a Camry no matter what size, looks like my next car will not be a Toyota.

So CAPTMARK, will the 09 be the last year or will there be a 2010 of the 3rd generation? Anyone?

While in Houston two weeks ago, we were told by a salesman that the Avalon was going to be redesigned for 2010. Despite that, I feel that the line will be discontinued. Being the "flagship" model, I find it strange that Toyota only offers only six colors versus the nine offered for the Camry. Toyota Motor Sales statement that "we don't comment on future prduct plans..." to me is not a denial of a discontinuation when asked about the Avalons future.

I was back at the dealer this morning to drop off a check from my CU. I talked to m y sales lady and she told me she'd talked to her brother who works for Toyota USA. He too has heard that 09 will be the end of the Avalon. Internal rumor, nothing offical.

I am a salesman for a toyota dealer, and all I've been able to dig up is 09 avalon is on its way with no other details other than touring has been discontinued as well as the indigo ink color. They've added cocoa bean and active headrests in the front seats. Other than that no word if 2009 will be the last year only rumor at this point.

No fourth gen?

The Camry L model is a definite based on the meetings I have been in. No confirmation from TMS as to whether or not they (TMS) will continue the Avalon after 2009 or not. Our sales numbers in regards to the Avalon are pretty descent. I think some fresh sheet metal and interior enhancements are a definite must. Otherwise, the Avalon is a solid car that should not be discontinued. Additionally, it has been rumored that the next Gen Avalon would be a rear wheel drive with an optional V-8. This was some months ago and with gas prices where they are although going down in 1 to 3 cent increments, I don't know if this will still hold true. Toyota has a National Dealer meeting in October where they will announce new products etc., at which time I could possibly shed some addtional light on this subject.

Mike

Thanks Mike. I'm loving my 08. I hope they do come out with a 4th gen. I'd like to buy as 2012 or 13.
