DVD "Locked" on NAV

I just picked up my 2008 Avalon Limited last night and was "showing it off" to my son, when the DVD would not work. When I hit the "AGREE" button on the initial screen it locks up and says something like "NOT ABLE TO READ DVD DATA --- MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE RIGHT DVD". I think if I merely eject the DVD & reload, it would work, but I cannot eject the DVD. I slid the "open" panel on the reader in trunk but pushing the eject button did nothing. IDEAS?

That sucks. Ideas? Yes, take it back to the dealer. It's possible that the DVD is not in there.

It was working on Friday night and Saturday morning, so the DVD was evidently in the player. At Noon, it "cannot read the data". So, pretty sire it is in there, I just have a strong feeling that I could "RESET" it if I could take it out and re-insert it. Nothing ejects when I slide the "open" door piece and push (in, out, sideways, up, down) the eject button.

Kinda cruddy for 1-day old.

Hope it doesn’t hurt to say this but, is the vehicle at least in the “ACC” mode? Remember, juice has to be flowing to the unit if you want to access the DVD.

YEP....in fact I tried it both on ACC and while the car was running.

I received a call today from the dealership (actually, my sales person) who told me that --- get this --- the DVD MELTED inside the player!! Weird. They are replacing the DVD player but could not remove the DVD and they have no idea why it happened. Yes, it is 107 in Dallas (where I live), but it is 112 in Phoenix, too, and I have not heard of thousands of Avalons having the same problem. Who knows what happened.......

Though you can’t “clone” the player, it’s not a bad idea if you could make a couple of copies of the new DVD

Can you ask the dealer to show you the old unit with the melted disc? Because if the disc did melt, I can hardly imagine ambient temperature being the culprit. The player is in the trunk, an area which is nearly at ambient temperature (as opposed to the passenger cabin due to all the glass surfaces in there). The ambient temperature required to melt that disc in the trunk would’ve kill every living thing in your area as well. Please don't overlook this incident and try to get the details as to how this happened.
