Splash Pan problems
My folks have a 2007 Avalon. They find that the front end of the car often scrapes the curb when they are parking. I noticed it too whenever I visit them and drive the car. The problem is that the belly pan (some might call it a skid plate or a splash guard) often comes loose. They're had it reinstalled 2 times already. Has anyone here found a solution to securing this thing?
I know the simple answer is "stop rolling all the way forward to the curb," but they've been driving 40 and 50 years in cars that never had this problem (including their 95 and 02 Camrys), so the habit it tough to break. It seems like all it takes is one rub, and the pan comes off.
I thought of installing some curb feelers under the front bumper that would alert them with a scarping sound before the car contacts the curb. Any other ideas?
