3rd Generation towing package

has anyone added a towing package to your avalon? I would like to pull a "casita trailer" and need to add towing package. If you have done this , how does the car handle while pulling trailer. I was told I will need to change out radiator, alternator and a couple of other things. all information would be great. sylvester

I don't understand why you would have to swap out the alternator. All a trailer is a set of brake lights and turn signals.

Plus the radiator, well towing more weight would tax the engine more, but the radiator fans would be on to compensate seeing how they're activated by engine tempreture.

In the 05 model year US models didn't have towing specs but Canadian models did. I don't know about 08 models.

If you decide to tow get a separate coolant temp gauge or better yet a Scangauge II to monitor the temp.

If I remember correctly towing is 1500 pounds dont know what the tounge weight is. Mike is right, the ScanGauge 2 is AWESOME, a must have, so much info and the trip computer is bang on and MUCH better than the factory one.
