06 tundra

My name is David Falati. I have a 2006 Toyota Tundra 6 cylinder. My engine light stays on so I took it to autozone where they check it for free. The diagnostic code reader said it was P2420. The guy did not have anything on that code. He said it would have to be diagnosed by a dealer. Any ideas about what this code could be and how to fix it. Thanks, David

Check this one out: http://www.*******.com/fsm/04-06-Tun...e/cip24192.pdf, unless you have a V8, then this one: http://www.*******.com/fsm/04-06-Tun...e/cip2419p.pdf. Probably very similar.

P2420

Thanks for the web site. I read or tried to read the information but I wasn't sure what the recommended fix was, if any. It has to do with the evaporator emissions switching system valve being stuck off or open. I don't know if the valve needs to be replaced or what. I'll keep looking. Thanks for the help. David

Those are factory service manual, what you will have to do to follow the steps to locate the cause of your problem. Since you have a 06' vehicle, depending on the mileage, it may very well be under the emission warranty. And since it is an emission system related code, it probably won't affect the way the vehicle operate, but the CEL will stay on. Check with your dealer and see if it is or is not covered. If it is not cover under the emission warranty, someone here will be glad to help your resolve it.
