Canada Cold Winter - Electrical Problem????

I had concerning situation with my 06 XLS Avalon yesterday. The day was very cold......about - 10F. I drove the car and went to a store, parked, shopped and came back to the car. It started with no problem but wouldn't let me shift from park.......it was locked in. I noticed that the Brake and ABS lights were both on, on the dash.....I checked the park break....No Not On............I then notice that the heater fan was not working, along with all the of the other buttons in that area. I assumed fuses were gone.

I checked in the fuse box..............it appears to be one large community fuse that controls all of that stuff. I ordered the fuse from toyota and arranged for a tow to the Toyota dealer, in case that was not the only problem. I went back to the car hours later and it was working perfectly again.

I didn't know I had got a car with the Auto Heal Feature. Can anyone help me with my delema........I know it is weir......Has anyone had this happen before to them and what is the fix.

Thanks so much for the Help on this Most Puzzling Situation

Rick

Perhaps a relay was sticking from the cold, might be the IG1 relay.

The relay turns on various systems.

Thanks for your help. Are you a technician. What would be the fix, if this is the problem?

Thanks again

Not a tech, no.

Find out what works and what does not. Knowing this one can look at the wiring diagram and narrow it down. Post what works and what doesn't here.

I suppose it could be moisture freezing in the relay area, connectors, etc. WD-40 will drive this moisture out if you don't have something better.
