2008 Toyota Avalon XLS Keyless Remote

I recently bought a used 2008 Toyota Avalon XLS. It only came with one valet key. I had new keys made up but still am lacking a keyless remote. I have tried 3 different keyless remotes (4 button variety) purchased over the internet. Each one has the same instructions for a 2008 Avalon. The first 5 steps puts the car in programming mode (worked fine) and the 6th step is for the remote itself. This does not seem to work.

Has anyone had any success with an aftermarket keyless remote for a 2008 Avalon? Toyota does not see them anymore - just the remotes.

Any help would be appreciated? Thanks ....

whether it is aftermarket or toyota oem, the FCC number must match the original, which sould be GQ43VT20T . if this is not the same the remote will not work. i have seen plenty of toyota oem remotes for sale at ebay motors real cheap. another possibility i'm not sure of is that it may only allow you to program up to 4 remotes. if for some reason it had 4 programed before you got it, then it may not allow any more without being cleared. someone else may know if this is correct or not.
