Upper strut support?

I've got an '05 Avalon Touring that had a clunking sound like a loose shock. Brought it to the dealership to get it checked and was told it was the upper strut support structure (or something like that...). I was also told there is a TSB out for it and it would be covered under my extended warranty. Has anyone else had any issues with theirs?

I have a 2006 XLS that has the same clunking sound on the right rear. The dealer ordered the parts today. My Warranty runs out in 3 days so at least this is covered.

I have a 99 Avalon XLS. I have not had the problem myself, but I have read many reports of strut mount failures on late the 1990's model Camrys and Avalons.

I thought Toyota redesigned the strut mounts but now I see that a TSB was issued for '05 Avalon.

Is this the same problem that late 1990's models had? Why is Toyota having these on-going issues with strut mounts? Thanks.
