Oil Filter Change Only

I have a 05 Avalon and been changing the oil ever since day one with OIC every 5K miltes. I want to start using Amsoil with an OIC of 25K miles. I haven't tried changing the filter first with Toyota's paper element only system to see how much oil flows out. Has anyone change the filter only without losing too much oil? Thanks

i use the wix (made by amsoil) filters for my Avalon with mobil1 for long life oil changes, for the 25k oil change with amsoil, I think you need their bypass filter system.

None of my business but I would HIGHLY RECOMEND you run an oil sample somewhere in that 25 k oil change. While I cannot say if oil can last that long I CAN SAY THAT no filter in the world can remove all contaminants and certainly cannot help with fuel dilution. I found out by doing an oil sample on mobile one that it is not able to protect my engines anywhere near the mileage they claim the oil is good for. I won't waste my time with full syn oil unless it is on sale at or near partial syn or dyno oil prices from now on. For me it's back to 5k oil changes again.

Big mahalo (thanks)

Thanks everyone for your good responses. Appreciate your comments. I also have a 1993 Toyota 4x4 p/u with about 121K miles on it. I've been using Amsoil ever since and change it out once per year with a filter change at mid-point. It takes about 1 year to go through 5,000 miles anyway since I either ride my bicycle to/from work or hitch a ride on the vanpool I'm in. As for the Avalon, annual miles is about 10K miles so I'll go back to dino since I change it out every 5K miles.
