2008 Avalon LTD Noise

Hi my 2008 Avalon LTD w/28K recently developed a noise front driver's side audible when driving slow and when car goes over a hump or bump or into a depression sounds like plastic on plastic can't hear it when underway only when going slow in parking lot or leaving or entering my drive, dealer can't hear it - figures, any one have a similar problem

Rear Noise

Check the clips on the rear sun shade if your vehicles have them. The clips often come lose and drive people insane with a slight tapping noise!

I found a rattle that was driving me nuts every time I went over slight bumps. The rear of the headliner (right at the top of the back window) was causing this. I slid some thick insulation back there between the headliner and the roof to keep the headliner from vibrating and problem was solved. It took some time to figure out where it was coming from.

I recently had my right front drive axel replaced. Noise was ptttttttttttttttttt on acceleration from a stop, and especially noticable when very cold outside, and also when turning. Sounded like a piece of plastic like the front mudflap was rubbing on the tire, but it wasn't.

I too had this problem and it pushed me over the edge. I found that there is a Toyota service bulletin for the Avalon - and all other Toyotas - between 2003 and 2009 for this. The service bulletin is an official notification to dealers. T-SB-0142-08. It has to do with windshield retainer clips and causes a rattle at the base of the windshield passenger side under the hood. The TSB includes the front and rear windshields and is for (4) clips on the Avalon. It is available on the internet.

front rattles

In a previous post I gave a Toyota TSB that deals with these noises. The problem is on BOTH sides of the front - and sometimes the rear as well - due to glass retainers. You can read the entire service bulletin on the internet. It is T-SB#0142-08 and includes ALL Toyotas including 2009's.

I have had a Vibrating Noise coming out of the driver side, untill i discovered that it was the door panel was vibrating at low speeds.
If I press it to the door with my leg or put pressure with my hand, the noise disappears..

I have another issue with a short vibrating noise (like when two smooth magnets attract and start bouncing off each other till they come to a stop) that comes out of the steering coloumn.

It happens rarely but more so if i change the AC temperature settings from the steering wheel.

Does anybody know whats that?

That sounds like adjustments to the Air blending box to provide the new temperature setting. Mine does that as well. I consider that normal.
