Unhappy Just Don't get it............

Looking to purchase a 09 Avalon Limited and there 0 incentives out there

With Toyota sales down 35-40% you would think they could throw buyers a bone.

Try 'building' your car online and then ask for quotes from nearby Toyota dealerships. That's how I bought my 38K+ 07 Limited for less than 34K at a time when there were no incentives. It'll only cost you a few minutes of your time.

Tom is correct. If you want to get the best deals then your best option is to fax a couple dozen different dealerships with details about the vehicle you want, the price you're offering to pay, let them know you have a readout (from any source like Consumer Report, whoever) and are aware of dealer cost, and also let them know you're requesting quotes from other dealers. Watch the fur start flying. Sure, you'll have a few dealers who won't answer back, most will answer but stand fairly firm, but you'll end up with half a dozen dealers or so who'll haggle lower on the price to compete with the other dealers.

One other tip. Start the faxing process with at the beginning of the last week of the month. Dealers will sometimes offer prices significantly below their cost in order to get the vehicle off the lot and not incur penalties from corporate. My brother-in-law did that with the Nissan Armada he bought and purchased it $1,000 below dealer cost, and the only sacrifice he had to make was on the color and had to take what the dealer had on the lot. It's not a perfect process, and you're screwed if the vehicle you want is a popular model selling well, but the deals are out there.

There aren't any incentives out right now, but that doesn't mean you can't get a half decent deal. For instance, check out fitzmall toyota online- (fitzmall.com)

They have a 2009 Avalon limited with an MSRP of $39,419 going for $35,009. (about $4400 off MSRP) That price includes shipping.

Not that you have to buy from them, but you can go to your local dealer and simply say "beat this".

Rather than fax it - send the request for quotes directly from the website where you virtually build your car. You can do so from the Toyota website, Cars.com, Edmunds.com, Kelly Blue Book's website, etc...

That way the dealership knows that you already know what the car costs and, in some cases, what the dealerships markup is. I wouldn't even make an offer until you see which dealership will come in with a lower price.
