2005 Suspension Upgrade Wanted
I know there have been numerous threads discussing the differences between the base suspension (XL, XLS, Limited) and the Touring suspension. After a 3K mile trip last week I am convinced that the base suspension is not right for my driving habits or the weight of this car, at least not when it comes to cornering. I feel very uncomfortable with the steering characteristics. Most likely it is the springs that should be replaced with a more progressive rate spring, but I will start with the struts if there are any available. Last time I checked Tokico was not making an upgrade strut; however, that was a year ago. Most of the threads seem to have petered out at about that time too.
Has anyone found a good compromise for the suspension that gives better handling but still gives a nice ride?
On another note, I am experiencing a vibration in the front end between 75-80 mph that is intermittent. I had the wheels balanced on a Hunter road force balancer and the alignment was checked. I have a feeling a caliper is sticking but won't know for sure until the car goes to the dealer in two weeks.
