Some questions:
If you operate the lock/unlock switch, located in the Driver door armrest, do all 4 doors lock and unlock?
Are the "child safety lock" levers, located in the rear doors, completely in the "off" position?
Can you LOCK the rear doors with the remote?

Avalon doors

Thanks.
The lock/unlock switch in the driver door armrest only work for the front doors. Also the child safety lock is in off position. The remote cannot lock/unock the rear doors.

I am guessing the rear door pwr acuators {latches} are bad. Very common.

I reviewed the factory wiring and harness drawings. The passenger door and rear door(s) lock actuators are all 3 wired in parallel. There is no obvious way to selectively disable the rear doors. The relevant wiring harness runs under the right side doorsill to the front and rear right side doors, and then passes laterally under the carpet to the left rear door.

Based on those observations, I offer the following possibilities:

The actuators are working but there is some mechanical problem within the lock/latch mechanisms. When you operate the master switch, can you hear the rear door actuators operate, or feel some vibration if you place your hand on the door trim panel near the location of the lock/latch?

Both rear actuators are defective, as 05DCLB suggested. One door may have failed first, but went unnoticed for some time, until the second one failed. It seems unlikely they would have both failed simultaneously. Since you have owned the vehicle, have the rear power locks ever functioned?

A connector was inadvertently dislodged during installation of some accessory. Have any accessories, such as a satellite radio receiver, been installed recently?
If a connector is unplugged, chances are some other function will be impacted. When you open the rear doors, do the interior lights turn on?

Thanks for your concern. I have been offline for sometime now. Back to your comment inov8, I just got the car recently as used car and since the delivery, the rear power locks never functioned.

When the rear doors are open, the interior lights never turn on. Please what the suggestion on how to repair the door.

Thanks once again.

I recommend 2 more tests to support/refute the theory a connector of wiring problem is the cause:

At the bottom edge of each of the 4 doors is a light that illuminates the ground just below the door. This light turns on when that particular door is opened. Open each door in the evening to see if all 4 lamps are functioning. My suspicion is that the lamps in the rear doors will not turn on.

With the radio or CD player on, place your ear near each of the rear door speakers to see if they are working.
