What's wrong with the 6-speed transmission?

My 2008 XLS Avalon is having transmission trouble (approx 24800 miles). The transmission slips and won't always change correctly. I have had it back to the dealer, who said they "reset the computer." No help. Has anybody else had a problem related to this transmission? If so, what actions were taken that might help? Is this a widespread problem? Thanks.

It seems a lot of different toyota model owners are cmplaining about the s-speed tranny...... mostly abrupt shifts at 25-45mph.... pretty certain the Venza tranny is the same as the Avy..... I personally haven't as yet experienced any problems but I have the I4 engine...... Another consideration is the tranns are adaptive and learn your typical driving style. Perhaps that coupled with shorter shift points and rpms between gears is confusing or setting the trann in an undefined state mementarily.... I dunno...keep complaining it's the grease for change.....

Best of luck!

That only pertains to the pre-08 models which are 5-speed transmissions. The '08 is a different trans.

I have a 08 Avy with the 6 speed and it doesn't act like i think a automatic should. I took it to the dealer and told them about it, and they ended up calibrating the ECU. It shifts smoother and less harsh in the lower gears. Time will tell if it stays.
