Installing new NAV DVD

I purchased a new Gen 2/3 Ver 8 DVD for my 2006 Avalon.
Is the upgarde simply ejecting the old DVD and putting this one in or is there some way I have to tell the system to read the DVD to do an update?

Thanks

Let me know how this works out for you

I have an 05 Limited and a 07 XLS both with Nav. Let me know how the upgrade works for you and if you notice any major differences map wise.

Installation was easy. I turned the ignition to accessory mode For the button starter this means push the buitton WITHOUT your foot on the brake. I went to the DVD NAV screen and saw VER 5.1. I opened the trunk, lifted the carper to expose the DVD, slid the switch cover, pushed the botton to eject the DVD. Then loaded the NEW DVD. The system recongized it and the display now says VER 8.1

Biggest difference is the change from VER 5.1 to VER 8.1.
The there are some very minor cosmetic changes - as you approach a turn the split map on the right now was a small indicator that moves closer to the turn.

There was a MAJOR I-75 / I70 interchange in Dayton rerouting that has been open about 2 years. The map still has the old cloverleaf. I wonder how old the database is and if it was worth the update.

I did find one on eBAY. It was an original OEM DVD in the original case, original shrink wrap, Toyota packaing etc. I bid $125 and got it for that price. Better than paying the dealer $351.
