I do not know much about the exhaust, but I believe that I read that you can chip these motors to 320 hp from the stock hp of around 280? K & N air filter, new chip, new exhaust, and you would have a hot rod luxury car, that sounds like something a kid should own. Me? Quiet ride, loud clean audio!

Are you kidding? That's about the biggest bunch of bullshit I've read in a long time. "...turn your Toyota Avalon to a sport utility vehicle..." - say what? There's just line after line of BS in that paragraph.
- 11 to 27% decrease in fuel usage - riiiiight. That would mean my Avalon would get about 38mpg. How many Avalon owners have you heard from that claim that?
- More efficient due to increased air flow - don't think so! No chip is going to increase airflow. Can't happen - no way.
- A chip that creates a deep tone - how? By advancing the timing to the point of pre-detonation? No thanks.

It might have helped if they could have at least used a spellchecker and used proper sentence structure.

Idiots... But there's so many people out there that will buy them. I'm not one and I would advise you not buy one either.

+1

"Performance" chips are complete BS. Plain and simple.

Tom - Oooppps. I didn't even read the description. I was only trying to point out that there are chips available to increase the hp of almost every modern fuel injected vehicle. And they do work. I was not recommending that particular web site, nor their product in particular. In fact, I just googled "power chip" and copy and pasted that one as an example. I suppose I should have been more careful. Actually, I am not so sure I even believe avalon28's post in the first place, so I probably shouldn't have replied at all.
Why anyone would want to destroy the stock exhaust on an Avalon, is beyond me. Fast, quiet, comfortable, with a damn good stereo. Nice car.

I agree that performance chips (true performance chips like Superchips, etc.) do work and do a good job. The site you linked to, however, is one of the reasons why buying stuff online gets a bad name.

I've done enough performance testing on a dyno to get a good idea what works and what doesn't. Most of what I saw after following that link doesn't work. Are we really supposed to think that an electric supercharger really adds any measurable, usable power increase? And how many times are fuel magnets going to be debunked before people stop trying to sell them.

Kellc1 - I'm with ya. I'd much rather drive my Avalon the way it is. I just get such a kick out of knowing that my stock 6-cyliner 'old farts car' will run as fast as my 2000 Mustang GT and a heckova lot faster than many of the 'road race' cars.

all you need to do is get cold air intake, not sure if they make Supercharger for your engine, 2.25 cat back exhust should help gain a little power...

Ran the Avy against my friends Mustang GT twice from 20 - 110, and we were neck and neck both times. One gear I would sneak ahead, next gear he would inch up. He was embarrassed. I said "Just think what it would do with 8 cylinders" and he said "Crap, I forgot that is was a six"!
