Does it require to remove the bumper?

According to the factory repair manual, both the grille and bumper must be removed to access some of the headlight mounting bolts. Experienced Toyota technicians sometimes develop tricks and alternate techniques. You might visit your dealer one morning armed with a box of donuts to see what you can learn.

Here are some pictures of the headlights of my 2005 Limited with HID retrofitted with projectors from Lexus RX. I have not yet put them in my car since it involves removing the bumper and I have not found anybody yet trustwhorthy to hav it done around southwest suburbs of Chicago.
