i've heard of this happening months and months ago. can't find anything to back it up though...i think there were some posts around here about it though.

I don't see anything authoritative, that is, nothing on either Toyota's or NHTSA's web site.

It's like one news outlet ran a story and everyone else is re-running the same content, which is how the Internet works these days.
