Headlight Leveling Error Reset?

Long story short, I got rear ended by an uninsured driver. I had to go through my insurance (uninsured motorist) to get my car fix. I took it to a reputable body shop here in town. They replaced the leveling sensor in the back behind the rear bumper but the warning light is still on, on my dash.

How can I reset this?

I think the dealer needs to test/reset it via scan tool. I dont think theres a way for us to do it. I believe the manual says take it to the dealer when this happens. Only other way I could think of would be to pull the battery cable off and let the electrical system depower. It might clear all the codes. But you lose your radio and seat presets, etc. May not even clear the codes. I've never tried.

I did a quick 20 min ECU clear by unplugging the battery but the problem still exists. I looked under my car at the right rear suspension and I can see the sensor, it is in deed brand spanking new.

I've done a little research and a few Prius' have the same problem but stated that when they replaced the sensor, the Error Light went away automatically.

I am no expert in this area but if you are looking for ideas on which direction to go with this problem, no gurantees, you might try the following:
The Level Control ECU requires initialization whenever the suspension is adjusted or the level sensor is moved/replaced, which might have taken place since you had body work done.
Another item to check is to see if the console warning light comes on for 3 secs and goes off when you turn ignition on. If no 3 secs on light, the data in the ECU is toast and needs refreshing by the dealer test tool.
I'm not all sure on this, I have never done it, but when you turn the ignition on you might see some movement in the adujusting headlight motor based on how level your car is resting. With the engine running you might try to slowly push the rear end of the car down and then up and have someone watch the headlight change level. This will give you an idea if the system is working at all.
Just trying to help so dont holler at me. LOL
