Wheels Sensors.AfterMarket Wheels?

I have a 09 limited and want to change the stock wheels to some 20s and was told that i might have to swap the wheels sensors to the new wheels Do these sensors ONLY run the tire pressor sensor or will it mess with the CAR STABILITRAC AND ALL THAT.?

It should only affect the pressure sensor. Stability control is independent and has its own yaw/rate sensors. You will get errors and probably a check engine light if you don't have sensors in the new wheels and have them properly initialized to the system.

If you are swapping the sensors from the oem tire to the new one i doubt it will even care. I was thinking more along the lines that if you didnt swap the sensors at all, or if you put in aftermarket sensors to the new wheels.

i was thinking eaiter swap em IF the car NEEDS em or not even swaping em, and keeping the sensors on the stock wheels for the winter I live in New England and it snows so i always take my rims off for the winter so i thought i could save time and money by not swaping em if its not NEEDED.

You'll never get the error to go away if you have no sensors. I dont know if it trips CEL, but you'll for sure get errors on the pressure light if you dont have any sensors at all.

I know if you order thru tirerack they will get you sensors, rims, and tires all installed and ready to go. You'd just have to reset the system to understand the new aftermarket sensors.

I put aftermarket wheels on my 08 Limited. Changed the sensors to the new wheels with no problems. The only thing was I also had an aftermarket wheel for the spare and the local tire dealership broke the sensor in the spare and did not tell me. As I drove away from the tire company, I had a fault. I returned and found out that they had broken the sensor and told me "We didn't know the spare was monitored". Needless to say, I now have a different tire dealership.

I put the sensors in my 20" wheels & everything is fine. I only put my factory wheels back on for long road trips so I don't care if the light is on then (it's only the tps). I guess it depends which wheels you keep on longer.

You have to read the manuel to find out if they are integrated into that system first

Gosh this sensor thing is so annoying. haha. I had the same problem in my SC430. I swapped out the wheels for aftermarkets without sensors and on the Clublexus.com forum (thank god) I found a thread that explained how to turn the error lights/message off. (It involved unplugging of some wires, but fairly easy)
