Agreed, due to Toyota's ancient technology. However, hands free laws in many jurisdictions prevent you from legally making calls any other way. Also, out of curiosity, does the phone number of the incoming caller display on your dash? Mine will after being connected with them for a couple of mins (which seems pointless at that time).
I'm very disappointed with the information given to me pre and post purchase of my 2010 Avalon. Toyota customer service supposedly researched the capabilities of the interface as well as the phone book capacity and have given out fictional information on numerous ocassions.
I've opened a case with Toyota, but I don't expect it's going far. I'll likely just sell my vehicle, take whatever loss I will incur on it, and move on to something that works better for me. I do far too much business in the car to put up with this technology.
