Just got off the phone with a tech rep at Toyota as I had the same questions for my 2010 Avalon. Apparently you cannot program in the name of the contact into the Avalon's phone book. I have a Blackberry and am unable to transfer any contacts from the Blackberry to the car. I don't know if iphone allows you to or not, but I suspect not. Also, according to the rep I spoke to the car's phone book capacity is 1000 entries. Hope that helps.

Wow, that's stupid. I have a parrot bluetooth in my 07, it sync'd everything from my iphone for me automatically. Contacts, placed/missed/received calls, all that fun stuff. Guess aftermarket is still a better solution than OEM when Toyota's involved.

Here's a website that helps me when I was trying to pair my phone with the car. It use to show the iphone when I went to this site back in the day, but it's not listed anymore. The phones listed gives you a detail break down on which ones sync to your car and which ones don't.

Agreed, due to Toyota's ancient technology. However, hands free laws in many jurisdictions prevent you from legally making calls any other way. Also, out of curiosity, does the phone number of the incoming caller display on your dash? Mine will after being connected with them for a couple of mins (which seems pointless at that time).

I'm very disappointed with the information given to me pre and post purchase of my 2010 Avalon. Toyota customer service supposedly researched the capabilities of the interface as well as the phone book capacity and have given out fictional information on numerous ocassions.

I've opened a case with Toyota, but I don't expect it's going far. I'll likely just sell my vehicle, take whatever loss I will incur on it, and move on to something that works better for me. I do far too much business in the car to put up with this technology.

My display shows the name and number, but I had to manually enter everthing into the car's phone book. The only problem I have is the phone loses connection ever blue moon. I have the iphone 3g.
