2007 Limited, 41K miles. Appears I am going to be purchasing a battery soon. Seems a bit premature to me. What have others been seeing for battery life?
KC
That's not unusual for batteries installed from the factory, kind of the same way OEM tires are usually crap and give you poor wear. My Highlander's batter failed after only 18 months, and when I checked the manufacturing date on the battery (which I should have done sooner) I found the battery was made two years before that. Still, three and a half years was poor longevity and it should have lasted another reliable two years.

'05 Avalon, in service July 2005. Battery failed November 2009 at 45K miles. 3-5 New England Winters is the range for all of the batteries I have owned over the past 50 years.
They put crappy Panasonic batteries in my Highlander and Avalon, and both failed in less than two years. You'd think they'd cut you some slack and provide a decent battery, but I guess that's expecting too much from the corporate bean counters.

Anyone who typically runs thru batteries should be buying new battery at CostCo.
7 year warranty, and effectively, if it goes out in the 1st 4-5 years, its an even swap.
I kept the battery in my old Celica going for 7 years from day car was new
by pulling it out each Fall, cleaning up everything, and then trickle charging it for a day ot two.
Batteries need some care to get longest life & good service out of them

If you don't drive it much the battery will have an early death unless you put a trickle charger on it while it sits for days or weeks. Mine lasted 7 years and I only replaced it because of sulfating around the terminals. My neighbors 06 avy sat for only 5 weeks and wouldn't crank the car. I lent him my charger to start it up and the same battery is working fine now. He uses a trickle charger now, since he doesn't drive it much.
