Aluminum?

Yesterday, I discovered that the aluminum trim on the console of my 08 touring is actually a glue on paper. Yikes! This crap is bubbling and peeling. The car was purchased new in June and has less than 8K on odometer. Anyone here have a similar problem?

not me either. You could buy a wood dash kit or some other kit to put on top of the deficient pieces. They cost ~$100 on eBay. I have the Touring edition too and was thinking about getting a wood kit for my Avalon. All my other cars are Lexus and I guess I'm too used to having wood around the interior. haha.

I'm getting ready to buy a used '08 Touring and have looked into the wood dash kits on Ebay.
They look better than what Toyota puts on the XLS & Limited.
However, I have a wood dash kit on my 2000 Avalon XL, and after 7 years, it's fading.

jmdiocares --- Have you found any kits that have WOOD as the color layer, instead of more plastic film?

Riick -- I haven't found anything yet. Lexus has an option of the LS430/460s that had a grey bird's eye wood. It kind of looked like marble. It looks amazing. I found a kit on eBay that offers that color. My interior is black so I may be compelled to get that one. But then again, I may not get one at all after hearing about the fading and warping. Hm...We'll see

I know about the fading - though it has only happened in an area consistently in direct sun.
But, know nothing about warping.
My kit never warped.
Good adhesive technique saves the day: If it can't move, It can't warp. <<smile >>
