Anyone had the "fix" yet?

Has anyone had the "fix" done for the SAS (sudden acceleration syndrome)?
Can you tell any difference in pedal pressure, or anything else? Get mine done Thursday.

My Corolla pedal was fixed. My Camry has not been done yet (doesn't have the CTS pedal), that would be the floor mat recall with the reshaping of the pedal, the new carpet and the brake over ride software installed...

I, my wife and my son have all driven it since the pedal was done. We all noticed it was smoother when accelerating....before it seemed like you would press and the car would not move that much, so you pressed harder and the car would jump forward almost like the car caught up to where the pedal was at so it moved. Now when you give it pressure, no matter how slight, it moves.

The pedal also snaps back more quickly. My wife noticed that immediately, she said it was almost like the pedal was following your foot back, rather than lifting your foot and then feeling the pedal snap back a split second later.

It is noticeable, at least for our family. But it probably depends on the way you drive, or how sensitive you are to stuff like that. For me, I am so sensitive to any difference in my cars, I can hop behind the wheel and know that a tire is a couple pounds low just by the way it drives.

I'll probably get mine in sometime in the next 2 weeks. My dealer is offering a free 5000 mile service, loaner car for the cars that need both recalls, and a free car wash at the wash down the street as a thank you / apology for the inconvience

Recall done

Seems like the fix has made the pedal more resistant and thus more likely to spring back, and throttle response is better too.

At the same time, had front brakes and fluid changed, front end alignment, small dimple removed from front bumper, cabin air filter changed, condenser cleaned out of mold and fungus, all for about $600 in one day.

Seems this fix is not causing a lot of trouble for many of us. It gave me a chance to get to know Toyota a bit better as well-- at least the local dealership who just opened a brand new facility even closer to my home than the last one. Arlington Toyota is truly an awesome dealership from both facilities and customer service point of view.

I got mine done on Saturday evening in my '08. I don't really feel much difference, it may be a bit more springy but I didn't have any problems before the fix. No special treatment from the dealer like mentioned above so that was a little disappointing, the guys in the service dept seemed almost kind of pissed at having to provide the fix. I won't be going to them (Toyota of Palo Alto) when I need any paid for service.

One question for folks, when I took it in I thought they would perform both the recall fixes (the shim for the pedal friction issue and the reshaping/replacement of the pedal for the floormat issue) but the service manager said the only recall that showed in their computer for my car was the friction issue. Has anyone had the fix done to reshape/replace the pedal due to the floormat issue yet?

Thanks.

You don't have to wait for a letter. I didn't have one, dealer said it didn't matter. They run it by vin anyways.

identifying gas pedal

OK Thanks for the info. I'll go look and see which pedal I have. Uh-Oh. can't open the doors because the snow is too high. 20 inches outside Philadelphia.

hey guys, I don't own an Avalon, but I own an 09 Camry SE...

I followed the 2 threads provided above me to see what pedal I have, but I tried to look in my car and just couldn't see anything...

how did you guys look to see if it was CTS or Denso?

Its actually pretty hard and dark to see it. I dont think the denso pedal has the big metal part. If you have the metal part odds are its the CTS pedal. The CTS logo is very close to the firewall and carpet, sometimes you might have to shove the carpet a little to see it. Flashlight is definitely required.
