My OEM Michelins at 36,000 are down to the wear bars. They wore evenly, just too soon in my opinion. Talked to my trusted dealer and looks like Goodyear Assurance Fuel Max is my best choice. Anyone had experience with these tires? Any better suggestions? I am staying away from more Michelins I think becuase of the price, and the 36,000 treadlife.
Thanks,
Bill

I'm using the Goodyear Assurance TripleTreds on my '08 Avalon (plus 2 other cars). I understand the Fuel Max is a hard riding tire. I have over 41K on the Avalon's and there's still plenty of tread left. Not the quietest tire around but excellent in rain and snow.

For some reason Toyota Nation will not let me put the TireRack's actual web address in this post.

Reason: web address
Thanks for your reply. I never have snow, so that is not a factor. The tripletreads are a couple hundred $ more than the Fuel max. Do you think they are worth it?
Hard riding? Even more so than the OEM Michelin's, which seemed hard to me.

135 a tire for the avalon from tirerack. Don't let the mxv4 designation scare you, they are an entirely different tire from the energy mxv4 s8 that is OEM.

FWIW - I got about 55k miles from the OEM Michelins - would have gotten more but didn't want to go through another winter with them. Replaced them with the very same Energy MXV4 S8.
We don't get a lot of snow here either, although, as I look out the window there's snow and ice. We do get a lot of rain and last year we had the all-time record rainfall. However, I have been thinking of trying the Primacy MXV4s since their performance is very close to the TripleTreds according to TireRack's charts. At the rate I'm going with the TripleTreds I won't need tires until at least this time next year or later.
I have bought Yocohama geolander for years on several different Toyotas. I get in excess of 60K miles out of them and they stay balenced and true the whole time.

I'm a fan of Goodyear Comfort Treads. Pretty soft sidewalls make for a softer ride, and are rated for 80K. I have 60K on my set for my Altima, and according to the wear indicators, it will be before 80K when they are replaced.
Put them on my '07 Avalon and the ride is nice. Expensive, but nice.
speaking of tire, I just had a big nail on my rear tire the other day, I went to discount tires and they said that's their tire. It was yokohama yk520, seems ok and not too expensive.
You're right about the noise. I have TripleTreds on two other cars (a Sienna and a Sentra) and they don't make anywhere near the noise the Avalon makes. My tire dealer thinks it might be because of the Avalon's 17" wheel size; but I don't know why a bigger tire would make more noise.

+1 on the goodyear tripletreads. They are a great tire.
I use Fuel Max Goodyears on my 2008 Touring. 12,000 miles...no problems. no noise, very ltiile wear. Seems like the perfect tire for my Avalon 2008 Touring.
